Frequently Asked Questions
PauseCon is free to attend. You cover your own travel and hotel. We reserve a block of rooms at a discounted rate, and if you’d like, we’ll help match you with a roommate to split the cost.
PauseCon DC is 3-4 days, Saturday to Monday, plus an optional Tuesday. Saturday and Sunday are mandatory workshops, plus optional social events. Monday we meet with Congress and hold a demonstration. Tuesday is an optional extra day of meetings with Congress.
PauseCon Home is 3 workshops, 90 minutes each, plus the time to visit and meet with your congressional office.
No. You don’t need any expertise in AI or government. Meeting with your representatives is your right as a constituent, and we’ll train you to do it.
No. PauseCon Home happens every Summer and Winter, with online workshops and meetings in your home district.
The congressional offices of your own senators and representative, since you’re their constituent. We meet with offices from both parties. Sometimes you’ll meet the lawmaker, and often you’ll meet a staff member who advises them on the issue.
We have very limited staff and review applications in batches. You’ll hear back at least 4 weeks before PauseCon. Depending on when you apply, that may be a few weeks after you submit.
Yes, you must be 18 or older to attend. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate minors at this time.
