We marched from Anthropic to OpenAI to xAI demanding a conditional pause on frontier AI development. It was the largest AI safety demonstration in U.S. history.
Tell Congress To Stop The Race →On March 21, 2026, concerned citizens marched from Anthropic's San Francisco office to OpenAI's to xAI's with a single demand: every major AI lab CEO must publicly commit to pausing frontier model development if every other major lab credibly does the same.
The AI CEOs repeatedly warn us that their AIs are dangerous. That they could replace all our jobs, and even cause human extinction. But they claim they cannot stop because they would fall behind in the race. Well, let's make them promise they would all stop together! It's the least they could do.
The demand has precedent. After a protest at Google DeepMind last September, CEO Demis Hassabis said at Davos he'd be open to a conditional pause, but said coordination was the challenge. This march told Dario Amodei, Sam Altman, and Elon Musk: your turn to promise to pause.
Speakers included Holly Elmore (Founder and Executive Director of PauseAI US), Dr. David Krueger (University of Montreal, AI researcher), Nate Soares (President of MIRI), and Will Fithian (UC Berkeley Professor).
Although this protest was aimed at the AI companies, PauseAI marched for an audience of the world. We are giving the AI companies a chance to begin to curb the risk they've exposed us to by building artificial superintelligence, and we're doing it in front of everyone.
We have the power! We hope this protest will inspire others to take action. We invite you to join us in Washington DC on April 13th for our Capitol Hill Day of Action, and to contact Congress and demand a stop to this reckless race.
In just 2 minutes, tell your senator and congressperson to stop the reckless AI race.
